Sources from the bureau of housing and urban-rural development of Xifeng county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on May 12 highlighted how the county has been advancing efforts to transform and renovate old residential areas, to renew the city's image and address the weak links existing in the urbanization process, enabling people to have better places to work and live in.

Satisfied with the amazing changes that have taken place in her community, where she has spent more than 20 years, Luo Chaozhen said that the drain used to be frequently blocked, with foul smells filling the air. Now the problem has been handled well, and she is pleased with the clean environment.
This year, the county plans to further continue renovating its old residential areas, which will cover one third of all the communities there. So far, more than 7,000 questionnaires have been collected, and about 4,000 people's feedbacks have been taken into account.
