With the job market becoming increasingly competitive, recent college graduates are finding it more difficult than ever to secure employment opportunities. However, for graduates in Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, the outlook is much brighter. Thanks to a range of innovative initiatives, including the laborer training and employment information system, the county is creating new job opportunities and attracting a diverse range of talent.
Xifeng county has seen a significant increase in new job opportunities in the first quarter of 2023. According to sources from the Xifeng bureau of human resources and social security, the county recorded a surge of 1,794 new jobs from January to March, representing 32.62 percent of its annual employment target.
To achieve this milestone, Xifeng has leveraged online employment platforms and strengthened the coordination between online and offline employment service providers. This has included relying on the laborer training and employment information system, as well as other provincial online platforms.
Xifeng has also been proactive in attracting job seekers by actively participating in industry events. During the recent 11th Guizhou Professionals Convention, over 100 job vacancies were registered from 11 different enterprises in the county.
Moreover, the local government has been working tirelessly to incentivize college graduates to stay and work in Xifeng. Since the beginning of this year, the county has identified and collected 1,290 job opportunities specifically targeted at recent graduates.
In a bid to further boost employment, Xifeng is set to open a new job market by the end of May.
The county has allocated 14.67 million yuan ($2.12 million) in funds for employment and entrepreneurship, issued 12.84 million yuan in entrepreneurship-secured loans, and has added 328 new market entities, which have provided 46 new jobs.
With these efforts, Xifeng county is well on its way to achieving its annual employment target and contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.
