NPC deputies should put people front and center, Qi says

On Jan 6, the second session of the 18th People's Congress of Xifeng county in Southwest China's Guizhou province came to a close, with the county's Party secretary Qi Yong delivering a speech at the closing ceremony.

During his speech, Qi praised all delegates for their strong sense of responsibility and duty, saying they have prioritized the people, performed their duties in accordance with the law, and done a good job discussing the development plan together, fully demonstrating the value of the NPC delegates in the new era and showcasing their pioneering and enterprising spirit.

The meeting fully embodied the collective wisdom of all the delegates and fully reflected the common will of the people, Qi said. It was a meeting of unity and democracy, a meeting of building consensus and boosting confidence, and a meeting of united efforts to forge ahead, he added.

He urged all delegates to always keep in mind "who I am", and never forget that NPC deputies come from the people; keep in mind "for whom" and never forget that NPC deputies are for the people; and keep in mind "who to rely on", and never forget that NPC deputies rely on the people.

"We should be quick to act and vigorously promote the spirit of practical work, strengthen the awareness of working for the people, improve our ability to serve the people, and take innovative measures to do our work well," Qi said.
