Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province has been advancing rural governance in Baozi village, which has been designated as a trial zone. The rural governance focuses on housing, toilet improvement, sewage treatment and waste classification.

Targeted efforts from the government have led to steady results.

For example, after villagers' complaints about redundant housing procedures, government officials simplified the process for the issuance of real estate ownership certificates.

Now, most of the waste produced in the village can be disposed of within the village, while 206 rural houses have been renovated and 760 rural households have had their toilets refurbished.
