New development model boosts rural prosperity in Xifeng county

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province has adopted a "company + cooperative + rural household" development model, and has set up 15 rural groups in which villages combine their development advantages and strengthen their industrial chains in order to increase the added value of their agricultural products.

Zhongba village in the county, for example, now features an abundance of mature kiwi fruit. The village has developed 160 hectares of kiwi fruit-growing bases, and has been selected among the 12th group of national "one village, one product" demonstration villages.

Xinglong village has also achieved large-scale planting of pumpkins, in addition to kiwi fruit, while its swine breeding sector is also thriving. All included, the village's annual revenue now stands at 1.08 million yuan ($150,768).
