At the Luping community in Yongyang sub-district of Xifeng county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, garbage classification posters and trash cans have been put in place to help residents better sort their trash.
Thanks to the efforts, the community now has cleaner roads, fresh air and rich vegetation.
"The resident committee advocates garbage classification and teaches people relevant trash sorting methods through online and offline channels. Now residents are more aware of the importance of garbage classification, and more and more people are willing to join the effort," said Liu Bangfeng, an official from the committee.
"In the past, all dry and wet garbage was handled together, while the smelly water produced from the wet garbage would seep onto the road. Now the garbage is classified and collected, saving on costs and improving the community's environment," said a resident from the community.
So far, 32 communities in the county have established 3,728 classified waste collection sites.
