Xifeng rated as demo county for rural road construction

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been selected as a national demonstration county for rural road construction, according to local news reports on May 5.

The county has built 211 kilometers of rural roads and renovated 10 unsafe bridges. A total of 4,162 km of roads are open to traffic in the county.

The government also combines professional and daily road maintenance to prolong their life. Funds for road maintenance have surged from 7.94 million yuan ($1.2 million) to 10.49 million yuan annually.

Meanwhile, a road chief mechanism at the county, town and village levels has been established, and illegal acts, such as damaging roads and abusing land along roads, will be strictly punished.

The upgraded transportation has supported rural social and economic development, and has accelerated Guizhou's efforts to promote its agricultural products globally.

Xifeng has established a "transportation + express delivery + e-commerce + business" operation model and has made logistic services available in every village by making full use of the extra transport capacity provided by 111 local buses.
