Actions taken to optimize teaching team

Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been working on several ways to raise its education quality.

Teacher ethics there have received top priority and as a result, the county is trying to establish a long-term teachers' ethics improvement mechanism, under which their behaviors will be evaluated. To date, about 2,200 files on teacher ethics have been established.

School faculties are being urged to deliver precise teaching that is conducted in a civilized manner and with integrity. The aim is to teach students manners and codes of behavior, by giving them great examples to follow.

A faculty workforce supplementary system has also established in the county. Last year, 123 teachers were authorized to teach in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.

New teachers are being hired through public recruitment, along with other channels and selection programs. In this way, 108 teachers and headmasters with extensive educational experience were introduced to Xifeng last year, to optimize the overall structure of the teaching population.

Moreover, a headmaster accountability system has been further extended and improved.
