A signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between Liuchang town's edible fungi industry and Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group Co was held recently, which is estimated to lead to a fungi output value of 2 million yuan ($314,200). Liuchang town is located in Xifeng county.
The town established an agaric planting base last year. "It is quite easy to plant such agarics. Manual labor is needed, with five workers responsible for the daily maintenance. When it comes time to pick the agaric, about 300 jobs will be provided to residents of the town," said Tan Minggang, an official at the base.
In addition, the town also set up a morchella planting base with assistance from Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Group Co. Vacant lands owned by villagers were transferred and utilized to produce morchellas. Land owners receive dividends every year and are allowed to be employed at the base.

About 8,000 kilograms of morchellas are produced annually at the base, which are expected to generate revenue of up to 1.4 million yuan.
