Proactive push planned to advance rural house renovation

Over the past year, Xifeng county in Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has adopted a raft of measures to advance rural house renovation work, according to the county's bureau of housing and urban-rural development.

The government has solicited opinions and suggestions on the work from villagers, through personal visits and questionnaires. To date, about 500 sets of promotional brochures, as well as 40 posters have been handed out and 793 suggestions have been collected, with 15 of them taken on board.

An overall house renovation plan has been established, including one engineering project, seven projects related to styles and images of rural houses, and the proposed utilization of vacant rural houses.

Clear timetables and renovation pathways have also been set forward to accelerate the work.

Officials have been urged to adhere to an established responsibility and accountability mechanism, and to subdivide the goal for renewing 1,380 rural households. About 20 officials are understood to have been summoned, to form a special team for the work.
