The Xiaozhaiba town in Xifeng county, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is now divided by the Guiyang-Zunyi Highway into two parts, one is the residential area of the town, the other is its industrial area. An upgraded avenue that extends to Guiyang now enables villagers to travel to the urban area of Xifeng only with a 10-minute drive. Chinar trees, camphor trees and ginkgo trees are now planted along the Chengdu-Guizhou railway.
"The basic infrastructure has been completed in the town, but many people here still chose to go to the urban areas for a living," said Lin Ziyan, a local resident.
Standing on the new starting point of the history, the town will continue to build the phosphorus chemical industry as its dominant business, supported by the healthcare sector as the town's special business, and seek to develop several emerging industries including lithium battery materials.
In addition, the town has taken full advantage of the rural tourism brand – Hongyan Grape Valley – to form a sightseeing model that fuses agritainments, recreational fishing and fruit and vegetable picking.
Meanwhile, the government is making efforts to make life more convenient and easier for residents, with the public facilities, such as sewage processing factories, plazas, theme parks, farm produce markets, elderly care centers, and medical centers having been established or renovated in the town.
