Xifeng county – administered by Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has introduced a series of measures and undertaken investigations in order to ensure residents get a wide variety of high-quality food products on their tables during this winter and in the spring of 2023.
Last year, the county produced 61,000 metric tons of grain, 466,000 tons of vegetables, 28,400 tons of meat and 1,600 tons of seafood. Recent statistics showed that the supply of those food categories was ample, with robust orders made in the agricultural market.
To guarantee the food safety, Xifeng has initiated investigations to the agricultural operators, guiding them to apply the national and provincial platforms for the qualification recognition of agricultural products, and has launched related sample tests among entities.
The county will also issue disaster field management protocols for future cold snaps and urge farmers to prepare for them.
