The Guiyang Chemical Medicine Industrial Park is one of several specific measures of the Xifeng government to implement Guiyang's six-industrial-chain development pattern and optimize the county's original industrial structure.
"The first-phase construction of the park was launched in September of last year, with a total construction area of 187,000 square meters. It will be put into use around June next year," said Wu Keyin, official from the park's construction unit.
Divided into three phases, the industrial park involves a total investment of 1.35 billion yuan ($202.5 million) in the first phase, which includes a production area, a supporting area and a public service and living area.
"The Guiyang chemical medicine industrial park will help boost Guiyang and Guizhou's healthcare industry, especially the pharmaceutical chemistry sector," said an official from the industrial park.
To date, seven enterprises have signed onto the phase I project with an investment of 2 billion yuan. These firms are expected to be able to generate sales revenue of 4 billion yuan annually and offer jobs to more than 1,200 people.
Meanwhile, the government also plans to build a chemical raw material production base at the park.
Relevant policies will then be put in place to reduce the costs of land, human resources, logistics, capital and electricity for enterprises.
