Xifeng county in Guiyang, a city in Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been focusing on the Xifeng-Qingzhen plum sector, the passion fruit sector over valley regions, and the grape sector in Xiaozhaiba town, and has been continuously raising the quality of grapes, beets, and other types of fruit in the towns of Xiaozhaiba, Liuchang, and Yanglongsi.
The county government has been prioritizing the introduction of more business and investment into Xifeng. Officials have visited Sichuan, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Shaanxi to launch business promotion campaigns, which has brought Xifeng 10 programs related to fruit growing and supporting facilities. The total investment in these programs has reached 235.47 million yuan ($35.32 million), accounting for 78.3 percent of the municipal target.
The service items and content of the fruit industry will be further specialized as well. A total of 32 training conferences have been organized for agricultural technicians to instruct 126 farmers on fruit protection and pest control.
In addition, three fruit products in Xifeng have been recognized as green food, and Hongyan grapes been designated a geographical indication agricultural product.
The government has also organized research tours in Zunyi and Chongqing to further expand the sales channels of kiwi fruit, grapes, pears, and passion fruit.
To date, 51,900 metric tons of fruit produced in the county has been sold, which has brought in 351 million yuan in agricultural revenue.
