Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been ramping up efforts to digitalize its agricultural sector.

The digital upgrading will transform the county's agriculture in many ways.

First, digital technologies will boost production. The county will develop new social service models to protect animals from epidemics, research relevant application software, which can include the animal epidemic prevention and control technologies into the one-stop management system, making the whole service process traceable and accountable.

A digital cloud platform for broiler feeding will also be established. The platform is able to provide multiple services to farmers, such as making production plans, monitoring the breeding process, storing transaction data, tracing the source of broilers, and developing chicken breeding skills. A scientific, highly efficient, and targeted approach to raise broilers will be set up through these services.

Digitalization helps ensure food security. A digital supervision network has been put in place. Agricultural products are labeled with QR codes that tell costumers how the product was produced, processed, and circulated. Other information, including the producer's name and contacts, are also available.

Digitalization has further broadened the agricultural market. Since Xifeng was selected as a national pilot zone for rural digitalization, the agricultural information platform has been built in every village, and a total of 161 information officers have been hired to operate village websites, which offer services involving people's welfare, e-commerce promotion, and all kinds of professional training programs. The information platform is now entering its trial operation phase.
