Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, is working to raise the quality and expand the scale of its animal farming and breeding industry.
The county will take measures to increase pig production back to its normal level, and strengthen pigs' fertility by forming subsidy programs. Two swine-breeding centers and 35,000 square meters of standardized pigsties, which will add 100,000 pigs annually, will be built and go into operation by the end of July,.
Ecological poultry-raising techniques will be promoted in Xifeng, with 20,000 sq m of standardized hen houses set to be built.
The urgent demand for fish products will be met by popularizing new ways of fish breeding and raising. For example, raising them in recycled water, and creating special cold water fish breeding programs. The total fish breeding and raising area is expected to reach 6,000 mu (400 hectares), which will produce around 1,500 metric tons of aquatic products on a yearly basis.
