Xifeng improves public transportation for people's welfare

Xifeng, a county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has reformed its public transportation system in aspects of smart operation, public welfare subsidy and taxi management.

Progress has been made in making the transportation network more "smart", by investing 280,000 yuan ($42,000) in the installation of the county-level "Tongcuncun" operation center, which strives to strengthen connections between villages through the use of big data.

A total of 161 village service stations have been built. Information about the drivers of 104 buses, 29 passage routes, departure times, ticket prices, and bus stop locations can all be accessed via the platform. Express parcels and goods can now be carried into or out of the village more conveniently.

Guiyang's intelligent parking companies manage more than 1,300 parking spaces on the county's roadsides, which has boosted the efficiency of the parking spaces' use.

There are currently six bus routes available, with 24 buses in operation in the county. The average annual welfare subsidies from the county government stand at 1.05 million yuan. Veterans in Xifeng can take free bus rides, and preferential prices have been given for more than 40,000 trips made by senior citizens and students.

In addition, local taxi operations have been reformed. The number of taxis in the county has risen to 321 from 79. Cases of illegal taxi operation have been cracked down on for an orderly industry environment.
