Xifeng county in Southwest China's Guizhou province has taken various measures to ensure protection for disabled people, according to local media reports.
Xifeng county will carry out care visits on New Year's Day and during the Spring Festival in 2021, giving priority to impoverished and disabled Party members, unemployed disabled people, severely disabled people, left-behind disabled people, grassroots disabled workers, disabled athletes, and other families with special difficulties. This year, the county has arranged a care fund of 152,400 yuan ($23,537) for 504 families with disabled people.
Xifeng county has actively promoted the participation of disabled people in cooperative medical insurance and pension insurance. To date, Xifeng county has issued nursing subsidies of 1.49 million yuan for 2,206 severely disabled people, and living subsidies of 2.44 million yuan for 1,992 disabled people with low income insurance. The county has adopted a variety of methods to push for the participation rate of certified disabled people to reach 100 percent this year.
Meanwhile, Xifeng county has carried out two volunteer service campaigns to help disabled people, including cleaning, doing housework, and publicizing various preferential policies for disabled people.
The county has also provided free policy consultation and career guidance for disabled people to promote their employment as soon as possible.
Additionally, the county has cooperated with civil affairs and other relevant departments to implement assistance for the mentally disabled, and cooperated with Xifeng health bureau to provide support services for 1,260 disabled people, such as wheelchair adaptation and hearing aids.
