In recent years, Xifeng county in Southwest China's Guizhou province has continuously improved its mechanical farming roads and water supply pipe network facilities. The county's farmland infrastructure has been continuously improved, the level of mechanized farming and agricultural facilities has gradually improved, and the modernization of agricultural equipment has been continuously improved, according to the Xifeng bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), Xifeng county's agriculture-related departments invested a total of 178.75 million yuan ($27.64 million) in farmland infrastructure construction funds for the implementation of farmland construction demonstration projects, farmland water conservancy construction projects, and drought-to-water improvement projects, and built 66,213 mu (4,414 hectares) of high-standard farmland.
At present, the total power of agricultural machinery in Xifeng county stands at 241,600 kilowatts, and there are 36,225 pieces of agricultural machinery of various types, of which small agricultural product-processing machinery and livestock machinery account for a relatively large proportion. The county now has three agricultural machinery cooperatives, 21 large and medium-sized tractors, two combine harvesters, one potato planter, one potato harvester, and 28 sets of farm tools. In 2019, the comprehensive mechanization rate of key crop cultivation and harvest in the county was 45.57 percent.
Meanwhile, Xifeng county has actively implemented an agricultural machinery purchase subsidy policy to increase levels of agricultural mechanization. In 2020, the county handled a total of 208 agricultural machinery purchase subsidies, benefiting 200 farmers, and issued agricultural machinery purchase subsidies of 227.67 million yuan.
In addition, the county has built 4,700 mu of greenhouses, completed 1,800 mu of grape cultivation under rain shelters, and installed one group of single-track fruit transportation vehicles covering 500 mu of orchards. It has also implemented water and fertilizer integration projects, covering 4,000 mu of orchards, and installed more than 700 solar insecticidal lamps and more than 2,000 sets of traps, covering more than 20,000 mu of agricultural land.
