The Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Xifeng county -- in Guiyang, capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province -- recently announced it would offer unemployment benefits to jobless people, local officials said.
They said eligible jobless can receive unemployment benefits within an allotted time period, six months at most.
The compensation package includes a monthly payment of 1,289 yuan ($197.47) per person and a temporary living allowance of 695 yuan per person, per month.
From March to December 2020, those still unemployed after the expiry of the six-month unemployment insurance benefits -- and those who are insured but not eligible to apply for the unemployment insurance fund -- will be able to apply for six months of employment compensation.
During the same period, those unemployed migrant workers, who were employed by insured enterprises, free from personal payment of unemployment insurance -- and who have participated in unemployment insurance for less than one year since Jan 1, 2019 -- are eligible to receive a three-month temporary living subsidy.
Officials said unemployed people can enjoy one of the two subsidies once and are not entitled to receive other unemployment insurance benefits simultaneously.
Trans-regional and repeat applications are also forbidden.
