Xifeng promotes entrepreneurship and employment of ex-servicemen

Xifeng county in Southwest China's Guizhou province has assisted ex-servicemen in entrepreneurship and employment by expanding support channels, implementing new policies, pushing education and training, and facilitating entrepreneurship.

The county has organized ex-servicemen to participate in an entrepreneurship and innovation competition in Guiyang city, and held special job fairs for ex-servicemen. Xifeng broadened its public information channels, recommended more than 50 ex-servicemen for employment, and installed 81 ex-servicemen in public welfare positions. Meanwhile, the county also organized 11 volunteer service teams made up of more than 170 ex-servicemen, and it promoted 36 ex-servicemen to serve as village party secretaries and directors, and 49 as members.

The county has thoroughly implemented policies to promote employment and entrepreneurship among ex-servicemen. To date, the number of enterprises established by ex-servicemen in Xifeng county has reached 123; 56 ex-servicemen have received 5.85 million yuan ($0.89 million) in small loans for entrepreneurship; 36 ex-servicemen have received 1.94 million yuan in support for small and micro enterprises; 72 ex-servicemen have been employed.

Meanwhile, Xifeng county has perfected information collection and data verification to fully understand the employment and entrepreneurship situation among ex-servicemen. At present, the county has collected information on 4,964 ex-servicemen, of which 1,823 are employed and 74 are unemployed. The county has also conducted a survey on the employment aspirations of 192 ex-servicemen, actively advertised jobs and conducted consultations on the promotion of employment and entrepreneurship.

In addition, Xifeng county has carried out targeted training for ex-servicemen. To date, a total of 144 ex-servicemen have received Start Your Business (SYB) employment and entrepreneurship training, with driving, excavator operation and Chinese cooking skills, and 50 ex-servicemen have received training as new-type professional farmers.

Moreover, the county has encouraged social capital to help and support entrepreneurship among ex-servicemen, solved the problem of entrepreneurial funding, and improved the success rate of entrepreneurship and the ability of enterprises to avoid risks. It has also successively issued 54,000 yuan of self-employed bonus funds to 12 ex-servicemen, and 374,100 yuan of rental subsidies for the business premises of 33 self-employed ex-servicemen.
