Xifeng county issues rent subsidies benefiting over 2,000 residents

Updated: 2020-12-18

Xifeng county in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, has given out 443,832 yuan ($67,934) in rent subsidies to 2,931 residents in 1,172 households this year.

The house rent subsidy is part of the county's housing security policy. Detailed information about the policy - including application requirements, materials required, location for applications, procedures and deadlines - has been publicized via the official websites of both the provincial and the county governments, as well as by door-to-door visits and by setting up stalls on market days.

To ensure fairness, the county authority has strictly checked the qualification of every household that applied for housing security, and posted them online. In the first eleven months of this year, a total of 115 households of 285 residents have applied for housing security and 105 households of 252 residents received approval.

Households included in the housing security system can choose houses for rent or rent subsidy. Those wanting to rent houses will be offered suitable house information according to the applicant's family size, health condition and income. Those choosing rent subsidy will receive the subsidy every quarter, and the amount of money is decided based upon the floor space of the houses they rent, their family size and their income.

Additionally, the county carried out "dynamic supervision measures", and rechecked the qualification of those included in the house security system, including the floor space of houses they rent, their family size and income. At present, 2,483 households have been rechecked, among which 2,450 passed and 33 failed.
