Xifeng continues to promote industrial quality and efficiency

In recent years, Wenquan town in Xifeng county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been continuously improving its industrial quality and efficiency, according to local officials.

The town has promoted the construction of an agricultural tourism poverty alleviation demonstration park. The core area of the park is more than 6,000 mu (400 hectares), and the total planned area is more than 10,000 mu. The park grows 1,500 mu of kiwifruit, 3,000 mu of oranges, 2,000 mu of plums, and 100 mu of strawberries and grapes. In 2020, it is estimated that its output value will be 8 million yuan ($1.17 million), which will increase the income of local poor people.

Wenquan town has developed seven characteristic poverty alleviation industries, including growing more than 1,300 mu of melon, 800 mu of Torreya, 4,000 mu of citrus fruits, 6,000 mu of plums, 1,800 mu of kiwifruit, 2,500 mu of pepper and 100 mu of ecological fisheries. It has also realized full coverage of local poor households and driven an increase in local people's incomes of 4,620 yuan.

Meanwhile, the town has introduced the Xifeng Fuzhiyuan Agricultural Development Co to develop a pig breeding project in Xinglong village. The pig farm covers an area of 14 mu, with eight standardized pigsties and two modern feed warehouses. It can produce 4,800 pigs per year and has driven 72 poor households to increase their annual income by 5,000 yuan.

In addition, Wenquan town has actively developed its deep processing of agricultural products. The town introduced Guizhou Jinliufang Ecological Food Science and Technology Co to produce various types of processed pepper products, such as pickled peppers.

At present, the town has achieved a total of more than 20,000 mu of industrial structure adjustments. This year, the town has completed the planting of 2,000 mu of economic fruit forest industry, and has signed contract farming covering 5,000 mu.
