Xifeng Hot Spring Sanatorium Scenic Spot is located among Xifeng county, Kaiyang county and Zunyi city in central Guizhou province. Surrounded by mountains, it has forests, waters, pavilions, and sweet-scented osmanthus blossoms. With a subtropical monsoon humid climate, the area has abundant rainfall and the annual average temperature is 16.2 °C. There is no cold in winter and no heat in summer. The area is famous for the natural radon spring with a daily capacity of more than 1,000 tons and a water temperature of 53-56 °C. The spring is drinkable and fine to wash in, and enjoys a formidable reputation. It is "the national spring", "the leading brand in Guizhou hot spring tourism" and a "disease treating spring". The scenic spot also has a profound history and a unique culture. According to research, the discovery of Xifeng Hot Spring can be traced back to the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). It was formerly known as "holy spring", "hot spring" and "cinnabar spring", but the name changed in Nov 1945.
