According to the third China Meteorological Tourism Industry Development Conference recently held in Xinyu city, East China's Jiangxi province, Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province has been rated as a summer resort based on the meteorological tourism index.

The conference released the "China Meteorological Tourism Development Report (2024)," which identified 40 cities across meteorological landscapes, health resorts, summer resorts, winter resorts, and ice and snow tourism as benchmark cities for the meteorological tourism index for 2024.

Guiyang was selected among the cities, with its meteorological tourism advantage rated as excellent. The report also indicated that Guiyang's comfort level extends to 10 months of the year, not just summer.

Meteorological data shows that the average summer temperature in Guiyang over the past decade was 23.0 C. Days with a maximum temperature exceeding 30 C were rare, with only one or two occurrences of such weather lasting more than five consecutive days each year.

Frequent rain and night rain are Guiyang's main precipitation characteristics and climatic advantages in summer. Night rain increases air humidity and cleanses airborne dust, resulting in high air cleanliness and freshness, thus enhancing the overall comfort of Guiyang's ecosystem.

The average total cloud cover in Guiyang during summer is about 70 percent, which is moderate and helps block strong ultraviolet rays.
