The Liu Yong Art Museum officially opened on Oct 11 in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The museum covers an area of 938 square meters and showcases more than 260 of Liu Yong's sculptures, reliefs, tapestries, ceramics, paintings, and related documents, presenting his artistic career, which has spanned over 50 years.
The museum is free to the public and will host exhibitions, art lectures, cultural exchanges, and creative research and development activities.
Liu Yong, born in 1944, is from Fuquan's Bouyei ethnic group. He has worked at the Guiyang Institute of Arts and Crafts, the Guizhou Artists Association, and the Guizhou Provincial Cultural Center, engaging in sculpture, murals, tapestries, ceramics, and cartoons.
He is currently a Chinese arts and crafts master, a national first-class artist, a member of the China Artists Association, and a librarian at the Guizhou Provincial Institute of Culture and History Research. UNESCO has honored him with the title of first-class folk arts and crafts artist.
As a new cultural landmark in Huaxi, the Liu Yong Art Museum offers residents a platform that combines exhibitions, public education, culture, and leisure.
