The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the third batch of national-level tourism leisure blocks on Dec 27. Of the 53 newly appointed units is Nanbei Mingqing Street in Qingyan Ancient Town, located in Huaxi district, Guiyang.
Qingyan Ancient Town is approximately 29 kilometers away from the city center and has a history of over 600 years. The town was established as a military defense town during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and it is named after the green-colored rocks that can be found there.
It has won numerous accolades, including being recognized as the "home of Chinese poetry," a "historically and culturally famous town in China," and one of the "most charming towns in China."
In February 2017, it was officially awarded the title of national 4A-level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration, making it the first of its kind in Guiyang.
