Kaiyang sees tourism boom over Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays

During the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, Kaiyang county in Guiyang received 600,000 visits, up 219 percent from last year, bringing in 313 million yuan ($42.94 million) in tourism revenue, a year-on-year surge of 228.9 percent.

During the holiday period, the county's comfortable weather, beautiful views and entertainment options made Kaiyang a popular destination for tourists. The Hou'er Sinkhole Scenic Spot, as an outdoor extreme sports scenic spot, attracted many young people.

Since the start of this year, Kaiyang has renovated more than 100 idle rural houses into homestays, and over the holiday, some of the newly-opened homestays were fully booked.

To provide a good tourism experience, the county's culture and tourism bureau mobilized a total of 98 inspection personnel during the period. They inspected 35 cultural and tourism enterprises, and six minor safety issues were rectified.
