Guizhou celebrates harvest festival in Xiuwen county

The main event of the 2023 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival in Guizhou province took place in Damu village, Liutun town, Xiuwen county in the provincial capital of Guiyang on Sept 23.

The event recognized six national agricultural and rural labor models from Xiuwen, including Sun Hong, and featured cultural and artistic performances.

Activities such as a basketball tournament, agricultural specialty product exhibition, sales fair, and village leader forum were held, showcasing the contemporary rural spirit of the bountiful harvest, harmony, and beauty of Guizhou.

At the agricultural specialty product exhibition and sales fair, agricultural products from various cities and prefectures in Guizhou were on display, while dozens of livestream hosts promoted Guizhou's agricultural specialty products online.

This year, Guiyang City and Guian New Area planted 1.56 million mu (103,666.66 hectares) of food crops, 461,000 mu of oil crops, and 138,600 mu of soybeans.

Damu village, the venue for the event, is a demonstration site for rural vitalization at the provincial, city, and county levels.

In recent years, it has developed mountain-related industries and promoted the integration of culture and tourism.
