The 21st Mihua Festival event was held in Shangmai village, Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 1, aiming to showcase the unique charm of its ethnic culture.

As a traditional folk event that has been passed down among generations for nearly a hundred years, the Mihua Festival has become a spiritual bond and cultural carrier for the people of Shangmai village and the surrounding area.

The event kicked off with a lively and cheerful opening ceremony. Local residents performed songs and danced, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The event also featured a procession and sacrificial ceremony and ethnic culture performances, attracting people from nearby villages to participate and enjoy the festive atmosphere together.

In addition, the event was livestreamed online for those who couldn't attend, allowing them to experience the festive atmosphere vicariously.

This year, the village declared the Mihua Festival as a district-level intangible cultural heritage in Guanshanhu. This has effectively inherited and protected the village's ethnic culture, and promoted ethnic unity and the development of rural cultural industries.
