During the recent Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the city of Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- received 14.38 million visits and realized 10.63 billion yuan ($1.58) billion in tourism revenue.
Most of the tourists came from Guizhou and neighboring areas and chose self-driving travel. Guiyang's most popular scenic area was Qingyan Ancient Town, a national 5-A level scenic spot, which had 235,200 visits.
Guiyang had 14 hotels with an occupancy rate over 50 percent during the holiday, six of which went over 70 percent.
The city's scenic spots also organized various themed activities, to interest visitors.
During the holiday, government departments ordered law enforcement officers to inspect travel agencies, scenic spots, hotels, internet cafes, performance venues, tourism teams and recreation places.
By noon of Oct 8, the Guiyang bureau of culture and tourism hadn't received any tourism accident reports.
