Guangdong province's Jiangmen city held a tourism promotion and exchange event in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to entice more tourists to visit the coastal city.
Representatives of Jiangmen and Guiyang signed a tourism exchange cooperation agreement and a tourism strategic cooperation framework agreement at the event.
Zhang Jianhua, the vice-mayor of Guiyang, said that Jiangmen's Kaiping Diaolou Cultural Tourist Attraction – a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site – has established connections with Guiyang's Qingyan Ancient Town – a national 5A-level scenic area.
Zhang hopes that the culture and tourism departments in Jiangmen and Guizhou can maintain communication, provide mutual support and develop tourism amid the novel coronavirus epidemic.
At the event, Jiangmen's vice mayor, Cai Dewei, stated that Guiyang is known for its rapid economic development and comfortable weather.
The Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railway and expressway have greatly shortened the distance between Guiyang and Jiangmen, attracting Jiangmen residents to visit Guizhou's capital.
Meanwhile, a large number of Guiyang citizens have ventured to Jiangmen to explore its famed UNESCO site and overseas Chinese culture, as well as its coastal areas, hot springs and phenomenal seafood.
Jiangmen also introduced three four-day travel routes at the tourism exchange event.
