Gaopo village's efforts to revitalize rural tourism

Located in Huaxi district, Guiyang, in Southwest China's Guizhou province, Gaopo village has promoted tourism using its rural landscapes, green industries, ecological benefits, clean environment and civilized customs, according to the Guiyang bureau of culture and tourism on May 19.

Gaopo village values the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and highlights green development. By virtue of attracting investment and poverty alleviation funds for industries, it has given significant support to rice planting and poultry businesses.

In addition, it's making progress in building a sanitary environment, with measures including cleaning weeds and silt throughout the village. More public toilets, sanitation facilities and a new sewage disposal system also add to its improved environment.

At the same time, a cluster of homestays, hotels and government-supported facilities are boosting local rural tourism. A sensible layout of landscapes and paths, as well as a clear division of functional zones, also enable this village to improve its planning and sustainable long-term development.

The village is now seeing better days, with the upgrading of local customs, accompanied by rules for ecological and environmental protection.

Using the above means, the village aims to establish a modern, efficient and excellent rural tourism industry combining sightseeing, leisure and tourism, and based on the splendid natural scenery of the terraced fields and Hongyan Canyon.
