Southwestern Xifeng county is continuing to strongly promote traditional Chinese culture in schools, aiming to enrich children's lives and give them a real sense of beauty, according to local officials.

The Xifeng County Cultural Center has given training classes teaching students to play the traditional Chinese cucurbit flute – a free reed wind instrument with bamboo pipes – twice this year. Each course lasted for four months and there were two classes every week.

A total of 832 students attended the training class held in Xifeng Special Education School. Meanwhile, Xifeng county has provided art training classes in Xifeng Special Education School this year. Some 360 students took part in the training classes.

From March to July, a training class was held on watercolors and Chinese painting. From September to November, courses on cement handicraft and handmade soap were also provided. Meanwhile, from November to December, basic training in landscape oil painting has been offered.

Xifeng county has also arranged paper-cutting and dance courses for hearing-impaired and mute students.

During Children's Day on June 1, more than 20 hearing-impaired and mute students were trained in paper cutting.

Meanwhile, more than 100 children received professional dance training courses, which stimulated their interest.

In addition, the county organized a movie screening. An inspirational film called Scarless Bullet was warmly welcomed by the children.
