Guizhou has officially launched its first aerospace industry patent pool, spearheaded by the National Aerospace Equipment Industry Intellectual Property Operations Center (Guizhou).
The pool focuses on two core fields: basic materials and high-end castings and forgings. It has united seven partner organizations and consolidated over 60 high-value patents, filling the gap in centralized patent operation platforms within Guizhou province.
The Guiyang Economic Technology Development Zone (GETDZ) is home to key players such as Avic Heavy Machinery Co and the 10th Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), possessing patents related to high-temperature alloys and specialized castings and forgings.
Previously, patents were scattered, leading to high cross-licensing costs, difficulties in putting idle patents to use, and obstacles to technological collaboration across the industrial chain.
The patent pool offers a one-stop cross-licensing service, reducing costs and time for small and medium-sized enterprises seeking patents. It also facilitates resource-sharing systems to eliminate technical barriers along the supply chain. A unified operational and revenue-sharing mechanism helps revitalize dormant patents while encouraging enterprises to file and commercialize patents more proactively.
GETDZ will summarize pilot experiences and begin preparing a patent pool for aerospace subsystems. Efforts will focus on expanding patent resources along the entire industrial chain and using the complementary services of the two patent pools to build a model for intellectual property operations in the Western China's aerospace sector.
