Guiyang Economic and Technology Development Zone (GEDTZ) implemented its "industry strengthen the zone" strategy during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), continuously optimizing its industrial layout to establish a solid foundation for economic growth.

Since 2021, GETDZ has established an industrial system led by advanced equipment manufacturing and electronic information manufacturing, with new energy vehicles as a distinctive industry. Efforts have also been focused on promoting the clustered development of industries.
GEDTZ has fostered three industrial clusters with outputs exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion): advanced equipment manufacturing, electronic information manufacturing, and tobacco manufacturing. The aerospace foundational components and key parts industrial cluster also recognized as a specialized cluster for small and medium-sized enterprises. Of these, advanced equipment manufacturing and electronic information manufacturing account for over one-third of the city's total output.

Over the past five years, the total industrial output value of enterprises above a designated size in GETDZ has steadily increased, exceeding 80 billion yuan by 2025, with the proportion of industrial investment increasing from 22.3 percent at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) to 51.6 percent, reflecting ongoing optimization of the investment structure.
A total of 395 new investment projects have been introduced to GETDZ, including 129 projects valued at over 100 million yuan each. The total foreign trade import and export volume of the zone has reached 5.95 billion yuan, representing a 93 percent growth. Actual utilization of foreign capital stands at 2.75 billion yuan, ranking first in Guiyang.
