Located South of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) has become a model for industrial development over the past 31 years.
With advanced equipment manufacturing and electronics at its core, alongside new energy vehicles as a key specialty, the GETDZ aims to become a 1-trillion-yuan ($139.71-billion) industrial zone. This goal is part of its strategic focus on "two main industries and one specialty industry".
The zone is committed to fostering high-end industrial growth and nurturing innovation-driven enterprises. It is home to 11 national-level "little giant" companies — specialized, high-end, and innovation-driven small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) — 50 provincial-level "little giant" companies, and 56 other innovative SMEs.
The GETDZ, recognized as a national-level green park, is home to several green factories certified for their eco-friendly practices. The region's green manufacturing system is evolving, supporting efficient and resource-conscious industrial growth.
The zone's businesses are increasingly gaining traction in global markets. Chery Wanda Guizhou Bus Co recently exported 55 new energy buses to Laos and is expanding its presence in Southeast Asia, with exports to the Philippines and Nepal. This marks a significant milestone in the company's internationalization efforts.
Through continuous reform and increasing opening-up to global markets, the GETDZ has attracted foreign investment and high-tech enterprises. This has spurred growth in foreign trade, investment, and international business, providing strong momentum for the region's economic development.
