The Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has placed environmental pollution under strict supervision by advancing new infrastructure initiatives such as 5G big data.
Inside GETDZ's new infrastructure command and dispatch hall, staff members can access the "natural environment" section of the command and dispatch platform to monitor air quality, dust, water quality, solid waste, and more.

The command and dispatch platform makes GETDZ better prepared for the collection and application of ecological and environmental data. To date, over 400 perception devices have been deployed for ecological monitoring in GETDZ.
Meanwhile, the factory of Guizhou Guicai Innovation Technology Co, located in GETDZ, processes 600 metric tons of industrial wastewater daily.
After undergoing degradation and precipitation processes, industrial wastewater is recycled within the factory, reducing water usage by 40 percent and lowering sewage treatment costs by 30 percent. By 2023, the company's annual output value had reached 750 million yuan ($105 million), a 50-million-yuan increase from 2019.
The company invests at least 10 million yuan in research and development and big data construction annually and is expected to exceed a production value of 900 million yuan this year.
In GETDZ, there are four other enterprises like Guizhou Guicai Innovation Technology Co that have been recognized as national-level green factories.
As of July this year, Guizhou had nurtured 228 national-level and provincial-level green factories and 33 green industrial parks.
