Thanks to improvements in aquatic ecology, the Xiaohuang River was recently recognized as the beautiful river of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The Xiaohuang River is a primary tributary of the Qingshui River in the Wujiang River system of the Yangtze River Basin. It originates from Niulangguan in Mengguan township, Huaxi district, flows through nine administrative villages, and passes vertically through the Xiaohe-Mengguan Industrial Park.

The river has a total length of 23.5 kilometers, with the section passing through the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) spanning 18.4 kilometers.
Once known as a "river devoid of life", efforts were made to save the river and protect the local ecological environment.
Through these efforts, the river has become a picturesque landmark that is characterized by clear water, green banks, and beautiful scenery. Currently, the river's water quality consistently meets Class III standards.
While working to restore the river's ecosystem, GETDZ has also created cultural landscapes along the banks of the river. It aims to build a green and low-carbon river-lake with enhanced leisure and convenience facilities.
Currently, GETDZ has established the Sanjiangkou Riverside Park, Sanjiangkou Xingyue Bay Mountain Park, and other amenities along the river, equipped with public toilets, benches, and trash cans.
The rebirth of this river showcases GETDZ's commitment to promoting green and sustainable development.
