Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has grown into a green development hub thanks to its sustained efforts to promote the construction of an environmentally friendly industrial park.
Enterprises in the development zone have successfully implemented the concept of "green factory" in their design and management, aiming for sustainable, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly operations.
Following the philosophy of green development, companies in the zone have injected more capital to boost infrastructure and equipment transformation and upgrading, as well as smart production platforms promoting automation, resource efficiency, waste reduction, and energy-saving.
The innovative production layout has been recognized by the government, with several enterprises awarded "green factory" titles.
"Accelerating green and low-carbon development is an important measure for companies to achieve high-quality development," said Li Yanlei, deputy general manager of Guizhou Guicai Innovation Technology Co.

Since its inception, the company has also adhered to the concept of "green factory" in industrial design and management, realizing production automation, its use of harmless raw materials, utilization of waste, and low-carbon development, Li said, adding that in 2021 it was ranked as a national-level green factory.
Guiyang Hisense Electronic Technology Co has adopted automation technology in building plants, and strives to optimize its supply chain, energy consumption and resource efficiency. As a result, the company reduced the unit product energy consumption by 7 percent, saving over 100,000 yuan ($13,850) annually.

The same drive to reduce carbon emissions prompted Chery & Wanda Guizhou Bus Co to build an "intelligent production platform", enabling end-to-end product tracking from research and development to sales.
Efforts to promote the construction of a "green factory" and green supply chain management in the development zone have also paid off. By using information technology such as big data, the enterprises there have achieved intelligent and refined energy management in their respective industries.
The zone promotes reduced carbon emissions, green expansion and growth, and the vigorous development of advanced manufacturing industries and strategic emerging industries.
It also encourages traditional industries to accelerate their digital transformation and upgrading, and build refined, flexible, intelligent, and green manufacturing systems.
