Guiyang highly expected to become super-city

According to the results of the seventh census, cities such as Nanning, Xiamen, Taiyuan, Guiyang, Urumqi, Ningbo, Wuxi, Fuzhou, Changchun, Nanchang, and Changzhou have a population ranging from 3 million to 5 million. All of these cities have the potential to be upgraded to super-cities.

In the first three quarters of 2023, the GDP of Guiyang reached 349.44 billion yuan ($48.71 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent. It attracted 1,600 excellent enterprises.

The electronic information manufacturing industry experienced a substantial surge, with its added value increasing by 45.9 percent, while the revenue of the software and information technology service industry increased by 90.5 percent. The growth rate of Guiyang's digital economy has ranked first in the country for seven consecutive years. In addition, the region saw the establishment of 745,400 new market entities and an additional 39 listed companies.

Guiyang City and Guian New Area have planned to construct 410 fifteen-minute living circle projects this year. So far, 390 projects have been completed, with 22,161 parking spaces built. Four farm produce markets and 21 convenience stores have been renovated or added.

By October, Guiyang had completed the renovation of 32,630 households in shantytowns. The provincial and municipal tasks of upgrading old residential areas have been fulfilled ahead of schedule, with 98 percent of the target for the backstreets and alleys renovation project completed in 2023.
