The Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, or GETDZ – situated in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is on the move to boost levels of employment and entrepreneurship.
It is actively supporting small and micro-sized enterprises or SMEs in the area to start businesses in order to drive employment forwards, according to local media reports.
The zone is issuing entrepreneurship guarantee loans that help by supporting small and micro-sized enterprises to successfully start up, in a program which also promotes social harmony and stability.
For those SMEs that hire the unemployed, the disabled, demobilized veterans and college students, the banks determine the loan amount based on the actual number of qualified people recruited by the enterprise – and the zone's finance department provides interest rate discounts.
Over the past three years, the Science and Technology and Entrepreneurship Service Center of the GETDZ has provided 39 SMEs with 68 million yuan ($10 million) in loans with start-up guarantee discounts, involving 1.39 million yuan in discounted funds.
This has led directly to the employment of 954 people, who are engaged in product design, sales and machining in the enterprises.
