Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) of Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was selected as a National Demonstration Eco-industrial Park, becoming the first of its kind in the province, according to local media reports on Jan 7.
In 2009, GETDZ started planning the development of a national demonstration eco-industrial park. In 2011, construction on the national eco-industrial park was given the green light, making it the first such development zone in Southwest China to be approved.
Over a nine-year period, 10 national eco-industrial parks completed their planning objectives and tasks in China, and their main indicators met the relevant requirements.
Of the 10, GETDZ and Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone are the only national demonstration eco-industrial parks in Southwest China.
The zone will continue to adhere to the new development concept, encourage enterprises in the zone to strengthen cooperation and build and improve the eco-industrial chain in the future.
Going forward, GETDZ will accelerate innovation, improve the utilization rate of resources and energy, reduce the generation and emission of pollutants and deepen exchanges and cooperation with other parks.
It will also promote green and high-quality development and make contributions to advancing the comprehensive green transformation of Guiyang and the province's economic and social development.
