As of September, the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- had leapfrogged its annual target for the start of major projects.

GETDZ has shown a very strong development trend, with 27 projects having started by September -- overtaking the original target for 12 major project starts in the current year, according to local media reports.

In addition to beating the target for project starts, it also did well on the financials. The zone's annual investment target was 6.09 billion yuan ($90.74 million), but as of September, 6.3 billion yuan had been invested.

Since the start of the year, the GETDZ has focused on building itself up into a 100 billion yuan-level annual output development zone and as a new modern industrial city in southern Guiyang.

Responding to the requirements of vigorously developing major industries and construction projects, the zone has adopted three major measures to promote investment and maintain steady growth.

This will ensure the smooth progress of major provincial and municipal projects in the zone.

The zone has also issued relevant work plans and set up seven special working groups.

And this will help to continuously optimize its business environment, guarantee high-quality development with high-level government services and further promote the timely and orderly construction of various projects.
