Dedicated international data channel device debuts in GETDZ

Updated: 2020-08-10 10:45:47

The first county-level 10,000-megabyte network gateway device in Southwest China's Guizhou province recently started operating at the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital of the province -- according to local media reports on Aug 8.

The device is for a dedicated international data channel, which is a dedicated data link from Guiyang city and the nearby Guian New Area in Guiyang to China's Administration of International Communications Gateway Exchanges.

GETDZ officials said it is being used to improve the performance of industrial parks and enterprises to access the international internet.

According to test results for the network gateway device, information and data sent from the GETDZ can reach the United States, South Korea and South Africa after passing through the dedicated internet channel with a time delay of only 20 milliseconds (ms).

That compares with the average time delay of 100 ms for ordinary dedicated internet gateway equipment and results in huge efficiency gains.

According to local officials, the device connects to China Telecom's dedicated international internet data channel.

After being put into use, it can form a dedicated international internet data channel node with 10,000 megabytes access capability.

This can reach China's international communications entries and exits directly from the zone, effectively improving the performance and service quality of the international communications network in the GETDZ.

China Telecom's dedicated international internet data channel is the only one of its category in Guizhou. Its construction was approved in August last year by the State Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Officials say it aims to promote the development of cloud computing, big data, e-commerce and high-end manufacturing -- as well as the services trade, medicine and health industries in Guiyang and the Guian New Area -- and to promote the level of local information technology and to open up cooperation with the outside world.
