Since the start of the year, the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has acted to help the people from Ziyun county escape poverty.
The GETDZ has provided a total of 3,600 jobs for poverty-stricken people from Ziyun and held a number of special job fairs to help the county win the battle to alleviate poverty, according to local media reports on July 8.
The new jobs in the zone are mainly in fields of assembly manufacturing, property services, sales, automobile manufacturing, catering industry, culture and advertising -- for which the workforce demands of the equipment manufacturing industry and services industry are relatively large.
Officials said zone departments and Ziyun county carried out pre-job skills training by building workshops for helping poverty alleviation.
These were designed to increase the zone's hiring of labor from the poor area, to help achieve annual poverty alleviation targets.
Data from the zone showed that since 2017, some 27 zone departments, 31 resident companies and over 1,000 Party members, officials and employees of the zone have participated in the poverty alleviation work.
Officials said the zone has invested about 15.44 million yuan ($2.21 million) in assistance funds and implemented 77 assistance projects -- helping 31 impoverished villages in Ziyun county.
