The Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has issued 10 measures to stimulate scientific and tech innovation and increase the GETDZ's high-quality economic development, according to local media reports on July 1.
According to zone officials, the measures mainly aim to increase policy support for resident companies in 10 areas.
Among the areas are cultivating high-tech enterprises, strengthening science and technology resident businesses, increasing investment in research and development and promoting the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.
The measures also address promoting the creation and application of intellectual property rights, encouraging the undertaking of scientific and technological planning projects, ensuring the establishment of new R&D institutions and strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges.
Finally, they also look to promote the establishment of an entrepreneurship incubation platform and cultivating and introducing specialized science and technology service institutions.
With their aim to support the development and growth of science and technology enterprises via policies and funds, the measures introduced the latest measures are an important addition to the original and previous supporting policies of the zone.
Zone officials added that they aimed to stimulate the innovative vitality of enterprises and build a high-level innovation and entrepreneurship platform.
They also aim to further play a support and leading role of scientific and technological innovation for high-quality economic development.
Officials said they will provide development momentum for building a development zone with annual production worth 100 billion yuan ($13.2 billion) and help lead to the creation of a modern industrial city in southern Guiyang.
Officials said that staff members from the science and technology and entrepreneurship service center in the zone are currently speeding up finalizing the specific implementation details, so as to maximize the effectiveness of the measures.
