Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone -- also known as the GETDZ -- is a development zone in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
In 2019, the added value of the zone's industries above a designated size increased by 7.3 percent year-on-year. Foreign direct investment for the year was $147 million, up 10.3 percent year-on-year, accounting for 100 percent of the annual target – while foreign trade totaled $105 million, up 27.6 percent year-on-year, accounting for 110.9 percent of the annual target.
Total investment for projects introduced to the GETDZ reaches 13.78 billion yuan ($1.95 billion), accounting for 115 percent of the zone's annual target. The zone's total financial revenue was 5.51 billion yuan, up 48.1 percent year-on-year, including 1.45 billion yuan of general public budget revenue, up 5.5 percent and accounting for 110 percent of the annual target.
The advanced equipment manufacturing industry, big data electronics information industry and health medicine industry in the zone achieved a total output value of 26.6 billion yuan, accounting for 54.5 percent of the total industrial output value of the zone.
The main business income of big data enterprises reached 27.5 billion yuan last year. Four big data enterprises above designated size -- with annual revenue of 20 million ($2.8 million) or more -- were added. Some eight big data excellent enterprises companies set up the GETDZ as well, while one big data core brand was developed and 25 big data security businesses were introduced and 73 big data enterprises came to the zone.
Last year, 22 projects in the zone received provincial and municipal R & D support funds of 24 million yuan, an increase of 28.8 percent year-on-year.
Officials said that three resident companies won the title of municipal public service demonstration platform for small and medium-sized enterprises, while 30 GETDZ companies won the title of high-tech enterprises recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the total number of high-tech companies in the zone reached 95.
Five national smart manufacturing pilot projects were developed and reached their design production capacity and five projects were selected as provincial smart manufacturing pilot demonstration projects.
Throughout the year, GETDZ officials led a team to carry out 26 investment promotion activities at home and abroad, visiting 63 leading companies and bringing back with them a number of key industrial projects. At the same time, with the help of major investment promotion activities, the zone has signed 12 projects, attracting a total investment of 26.55 billion yuan.
In 2019, GETDZ implemented 36 assistance projects in total and promoted 23 agricultural industry projects to be put into operation.
It held three special job fairs in Ziyun county and created 966 jobs for locals. During the year, 13,000 people in Ziyun county and 1,400 people in Muyin town in Luodian county were helped out of poverty, officials said.
