In the first two months of the year a surge of new projects broke ground in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- according to GETDZ officials.

They said on March 31 that from January to February 2020, nine new projects with an investment of more than 100 million yuan ($14.12 million) each, started construction in the GETDZ.

During the same period, Guiyang City started a total of 42 projects with investment of more than 100 million yuan each, of which nine were the projects in the GETDZ. The latter projects have a total investment of 16.54 billion yuan, officials added.

Among the nine GETDZ projects is the first phase of Evergrande’s six billion-yuan Guiyang power technology production base, with a plant covering 400,000 square meters.

Construction includes a research and development center, a motor assembly workshop, an electronics and electrical control manufacturing workshop, axle manufacturing workshops, logistics centers, repair and spare parts workshops and other facilities.

The main products to be produced by the new facility are new energy wheel hub motor drive axle assemblies, including wheel hub motors and intelligent drive systems.

After the completion, annual output is expected to be 200,000 sets of hub motors, with an output value of 10 billion yuan, generating annual tax revenue of one billion yuan and creating jobs more than 1,500 jobs.
