Three professionals from resident companies in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- were selected on a list of municipal-level experts, according to GETDZ zone officials on March 24.
The GETDZ talent were identified after a number of procedures – including the initial application by the individual, recommendations from their company or institution and professional reviews.
In all, 14 professionals from the city of Guiyang were selected on the list of experts -- including the three from GETDZ enterprises.
According to zone officials, the selection program aims to cultivate academic and technical leaders in various professional fields and for them to play an important role in economic and social development.
They said it is an important initiative to promote a higher-level of opening up.
Officials said the zone will continue to create better working and developing environment for its people.
It will speed up the recruitment of top expertise and actively help high-level talent to apply for various awards, honors and project supports.
In addition, it will provide strong support for building an advanced development zone and for creating a modern new industrial zone in the south of Guiyang.
Since 2009, Guiyang has carried out the program of selecting municipal-level experts.
The selection targets are mainly on-the-job personnel of municipal companies and institutions.
Those who have won awards in scientific research, scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in past five years -- or those who have achieved significant economic and social benefits in the introduction and the promotion of science and technology -- can apply.
Municipal-level experts are selected once every two years, officials said.
